Experience:

 Rick C. Mellen was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. Rick attended the University of Utah and graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor’s Degree in English and a Bachelor’s Degree in French. In December, 2002, Rick received a Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Oregon, School of Law. During law school, Rick was selected as an editor of the Oregon Law Review and as a member of the Moot Court Board. Rick has been a member of the Utah Bar since June, 2003 and he joined the law firm of Hughes & Bursell, P.C., in St. George, Utah, in December, 2003. Rick became a partner in Hughes, Thompson, Randall & Mellen, P.C., in February, 2007. Rick is a member of the Southern Utah Board Association and sat on the board from 2012 to 2014. Rick’s law practice encompasses several areas including family law, adoption, general civil litigation, real estate litigation, landlord and tenant disputes, collections, and appeals. Personal: Rick is married and has two children. In his spare time, Rick enjoys outdoors activities including mountain biking, hiking, canyoneering, and backpacking.
